The match? A game of Go.
Assume neither has played before.

....
What? You were expecting Wizard's Chess or something? Too easy.

No one wins because no one plays Go. Lawl.

I think Bobby wins. I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be an actual genius or something, while Ron is just good at the game because he spends all his time playing with his brothers and Harry.

Which doesn't even make any sense, because chess is a game of logic and perception, which Ron seems to have none of.
Go is an infinitely more complex game than Chess, so even though both of them would not be grandmasters, I think it's fair to say Fischer owns Weasley.

Ya know.. now that I think about your right. WTF?
But, have we actually seen Ron beat down anyone besides Harry? I'm only asking because I've only read books 1-5.. so he may have shown actual skill.

He apparently played one of the best games of wizarding chess in recent history. Which I suppose is more of a testament that wizards suck at chess than anything else. Some 11/12 year old (regardless of how prodigious, he's still 11/12) without demonstrated talent in perceptive abilities, plays the best game in centuries... right...
Forget Ronald Weasley. I think Bobby Fischer could own all of Hogwarts at Go.

They can master arcane chants, rituals, mystical stuff and other languages, navigate brooms as if they were a part of their body, and twist the very laws of nature, but Chess defeats them.

Well, Einstein was a retard except when it came to physics.

Apparently, he also was able to beat Hogwart's dungeon (first book), which means he's better at it than whoever set up the spell (which, you would think, would mean a fairly intelligent and crafty human being).

Well, Einstein was a retard except when it came to physics. Not exactly. Einstein was a fairly good writer, as well as a notoriously hard worker. And even though Einstein is the "poster boy" (so to speak) for genius, his IQ isn't that exceptional compared to a lot of other geniuses.
Linguistic and written skill is often a decent indicator of intelligence. Ron can't articulate worth shit, and he's also a lazy bum. Furthermore, chess isn't like music or art, where there is some room for subjectivity. It's a raw, incredibly sequential, and highly logical game where one has to visualize the board many moves in advance in order to perform at the highest level. So he's either a ridiculous idiot savant (to the order that's never seen before), or JKR knows jack shit about chess and decided to fuck around.
In the latter, more likely, scenario, Bobby Fischer absolutely destroys him.

Couldn't Ron just hex him? You know, give him hemorrhoids or something?

I bet he could beat him now. Especially because Bobby Fischer's dead, as of this month.

Last month, actually.
The "He's dead" topic has been on KMC since January 18th.

Poor Bobby.
*Pauses for a moment of silence*
But yeah, I don't think Ron could guarantee a hex, seeing as how his wand always breaks and wizards don't seem to be capable of performing magic without them.
