EoD has installed a new skin to its collection. This new one, Black and Gold, offers a different color scheme than the others in our library. Be sure to take a look!

Oh, what a kick arse skin!
Traya
09-29-2006, 04:08 PM
Dang, this is an awesome skin! Set it for default!
Lord Sorgo
09-29-2006, 04:12 PM
Nein! Default must be white.
Traya
09-29-2006, 04:19 PM
Nein, white default sucks.
*Points to KMC*
Lord Sorgo
09-29-2006, 04:30 PM
You'd be surprise how many love that skin.
Traya
09-29-2006, 04:39 PM
To be honest, I don't like white skins. Darker, more sleeker skins appeal to me more.
Lord Sorgo
09-29-2006, 05:11 PM
I know, but a large number of people like the white.
KMC is an example.
Sandman

Holy crap. Sexy skin.
Fishy
09-30-2006, 04:34 AM
White skins are neutral and because of that a better default skin, no matter how good other skins look it's always the best to set as default..
Looks nice though
Lord Sorgo
09-30-2006, 07:17 AM
Yeah, the Fishmeister sez so, so it is!

this new skin rocks, but i'm gonna have to stick to the Dark Scheme. tis my favorite.
Janus
09-30-2006, 12:05 PM
Much easier to read thanks to the high contrast. And having the Quick Reply icon be legible helps.
Lord Sorgo
09-30-2006, 05:25 PM
I'm still sticking with Insignia.
Mindship
09-30-2006, 05:30 PM
It not bad...gonna try it for a spell.
Lord Sorgo
09-30-2006, 05:35 PM
It looks too choppy in my opinion, as cool as it is.
And Insignia is the middle of dark and light.
Marushia
10-02-2006, 12:37 AM
Meh, it's ok. Want a banner for that one too?
Lord Sorgo
10-02-2006, 01:00 AM
There should be a banner for all of the skins, honestly.
Marushia
10-02-2006, 06:24 PM
Right and I've made them for the others, they just haven't been implemented yet. You should be able to see them, Sorgo, in the thread where I posted them.
Lord Sorgo
10-02-2006, 07:13 PM
Yep, I've seen 'em.

Use Insignia! It's the perfect blend between dark and light, really.
You know what they say: "Everything in Moderation!"

Lord Sorgo
10-05-2006, 02:01 AM
You mean Insignia? Or BAG?
Traya
10-05-2006, 02:21 AM
Insignia is okay.
Lord Sorgo
10-05-2006, 03:28 PM
It's the best skin. Ever.
Illustrious
10-06-2006, 12:42 AM
The majority of people still seem to prefer the Default Skin.
I really like it. Changed over from the black and red to this.. and have kept it since then. :D
Boo default.. yay black and gold.
Syren
10-06-2006, 11:20 AM
Keep the whiter skin as default, you wouldn't believe how many people complain that the darker (sleeker and sexier in my opinion) skins hurt their precious eyes :p
Love the new skin. It's gorgeous, so good job on that. The text is larger than Insignia though, which I was using initially. Having got used to the smaller text, I was wondering if the text for BAG is to remain at the current size or whether there could be room for amendment?
Sandman
10-06-2006, 11:24 AM
I'm lazy, so I like the bigger text.

I like skins that look smooth.
The thing with the darker skin is that it has this boxy, unfinished feeling to it.
It's fine. I like the black and red one too, but the gold isn't hard on the eyes. That's all I ask.

No, Insignia. Lol.
Syren
10-06-2006, 01:40 PM
Oh, my bad. I really like Insignia and I still much prefer the smaller text, but I'm gonna stick with BAG for a while.
Lord Sorgo
10-06-2006, 02:23 PM
BAG looks too much like the dark skin.
Syren
10-06-2006, 02:35 PM
City Morning - boring, but perfect for default and to passify sensitive-eyed complainers.
Dark Scheme - bright, but it actually turns me into one of the above mentioned sensitive-eyed complainers.
Insignia - fabulous, but I could definitely do with a skin to switch to in times of dissatisfaction.
BAG - ideal for my dissatisfied-with-insignia moments. But the text is fat.
Lord Sorgo
10-06-2006, 02:45 PM
Yeah, I prefer small text. I hate big text. It irritates my eyes.
Sandman

Lord Sorgo

Yeah, you're Syfuckingren!
But yeah, I think my overall favorite skin EVER on a forum is the SW Black on KMC.
Although BAG comes in second on THESE forums. Cuz insignia rox!11

Sy-Fucking-Ren *gasp*

I use red/black over on KMC, but I can't use the red/black version here, it's abusive to the eyeballs :D

Nein! Dark Scheme are choppy and too off course.

10-11-2006, 09:47 PM
Okay. How many of you feel I should make the Black and Gold style's fonts smaller? Because I can do that.
Janus
10-11-2006, 09:56 PM
I like big font. I stare at ten point font all day at work, so this is good on my eyes.
Lord Sorgo

Hex's font is the hardest to read.
Sometimes, I just don't bother reading her post. lol.

I think we need some more skins. I'm a skin hog; I like selection.
Faunus
10-12-2006, 08:45 PM
You do realize you can just highlight her text, right?
Lord Sorgo
10-12-2006, 09:15 PM
This makes her text bigger how?
Lord Darkstar
10-12-2006, 09:36 PM
It doesn't, but it does change the color of the text, which might make it easier to read against a dark background
Lord Sorgo
10-13-2006, 06:09 AM
I don't have a dark background, and her text is uber pinner.
~Is often unread by Sorgo...~ Hmm. Not sure how this topic detoured off to a discussion about my text size, but the best way to make it larger is to ask. That is, if you cared enough to. ~Eyes them curiously~ I am not so vicious and cruel that those who request a font boost are slain on the spot. Am I? I use Mozilla and boost all text, and as I never read my own posts I didn't realize it came across as tiny to so many. The problem is solved now, I hope.
Do we prefer size Three or size Four for my text? I'm fine with either.
Back on topic: I'd prefer you left the size as it is now, but as I said, I just make the entire page huge or else my ruined eyes wouldn't see anything.
Lord Darkstar
10-13-2006, 03:33 PM
The text size you used in that lost post is good (#3 is guess), makes it much easier to read.
Lord Sorgo
10-13-2006, 03:57 PM
LMAO!
Now it's too big! And the italic makes it more difficult to read.
And my eyesight is above average! :p
I'm afraid you're going to have to live with Italic, Sorgo. Regular size, what I had before, is 2. It is now 3. I can't have 2½, so that's as good as it gets. I don't think it's too big and no one can see 2 so I'll keep it here. ~Lays the issue to rest~
Syren
10-13-2006, 04:57 PM
Much better Hex, although I read your posts regardless :)

No, I won't.
For now on, I will not be reading the postings of HEXIMUS!
Faunus
10-13-2006, 07:46 PM
Oy, Hex! Leave it the way it was. This is killing the delicate eyes of teh Faunus, who prefers to simply highlight your stuff and read it in dark blue. Sorgo can eat his sig.

Lord Sorgo
10-15-2006, 12:16 AM
Yeah, and then I browsed it a bit more.
The first glance was a quick one because I had a lack of time.
So I left, and when I came back I went through the forums with it and . . . Bleh!
Lord Darkstar
10-15-2006, 06:16 PM
Meh, I'm using the black and gold skin now, it seems fine to me
Lord Sorgo
10-16-2006, 03:01 AM
Meh, whatever. I guess opinions are opinions, but I just don't like it much.
I think a wider selection should happen. I'd be willing to help install.
Syren
10-18-2006, 07:02 AM
I've taken a recent dislike to it as well. It's not hideous or anything, in fact it's still quite a nice skin, but it could be much better and as Sorgo said, more choice is definitely needed.
Lord Sorgo
10-23-2006, 01:19 AM
But not too much choice. Things are best within moderation.
Marushia
10-23-2006, 02:26 PM
Personally, Dark Scheme still kicks ass. If it were Black and Yellow, that might be better but the dull gold is just eww.
Syren

Not everything.
Lord Sorgo
10-24-2006, 01:52 PM
Yes, everything, actually. Tell me one thing that is not. :)
Marushia
10-24-2006, 02:10 PM
Everything is best in moderation; it's just that certain things have a higher or lower threashold for what is moderate. Eight glasses of water a day is moderate while a thimble of cyanide is well beyond moderate.
But I agree that we could use a few more good skins. If we have too many, we'll have to trim off the crapier ones or we'll risk overloading the server.

Peace, love and unity?
Marushia, are you planning to create a poll to find out what the general consensus is regarding new skins? Which colours people prefer and such?

What the . . . ? Those are two different animals. You've got to understand; each entity/item in itself has it's own level of moderation, but the factor still applies.
Too little or too much is not good.

Peace, love and unity?
Rebuttals:
Peace - An overwhelming desire for peace leads to delusions of grandure and the establishment of radical groups who employ immoral means to bring about a false sense of peace.
Love - A woman's love for a child makes her paranoid to the point where the kid becomes a bubble boy and is overdosed on censorship, there-by doing more harm than good in the long-term.
OR
Too much love is focused solely on a single individual or thing and all other social responsibilities are voided. This is done by everyone and soon society as we know it collapses due to negligence.
Untiy - Convicts unite to overrun a prison and eventually break free.

Wasn't planning on it, no.

That would depend on the person and the kind of peace they want. Take somebody like Ghandi for an example who never fought anybody and convinced an entire nation not to fight to defeat the British... Peace or the notion of peace can be used for evil, but a person who knows how to use it can do great things without, without starting a war or fights. At least not from their side and when it starts he can make it stop. So it's not really the idea it's the execution of it. Peace is good, in moderation when it comes to certain people and in other people there should be no boundary's. Imagine if Ghandi would have said, I like peace but only in moderation...
If this is done by everybody it is bad, but again Love can do great things for certain people. Take Ghandi for an example again, imagine if he had not loved. Imagine if he would have said I do not love the entire nation just those that follow me. The love a person can feel for another person can grow into something bad, but in general great love does not do that.
Untiy - Convicts unite to overrun a prison and eventually break free.
If true Unity would exist that the convicts would not have stood a chance in the first place, if the idea of peace and love existed then they would not have been convicts and there would be no need for prison.
Of course there are always examples to be found where these 3 things are used for less then noble purposes or to create the exact opposite of what they are supposed to, and some people should need to balance it out, some other people however know how to deal with things like that and actually can with success. It completely comes down to the people again. The person who has it decides how to use it. However if these three ideals would be present in everybody and they would carry them out in ways that people like for instance Ghandi did we would have had a hell of a lot less problems in the world.
Moderation in ideals is only required when the people aren't fit to handle them, and use them in ways that they are not meant to be used. That does not make the idea's themselves wrong, just the implementation of these idea's.
