I rented this game a few days ago and it's a wonderful SP game. It's the game the movie-influenced ones should have been. The voice acting for SP is pathetic but it's a rather good game with a deliciously poetic storyline.
Spiderman, in this game, has the ability to switch from normal red suit Spiderman to black suit symbiote Spiderman just by the press of a button. ANYTIME. You could be in the middle of web swinging and the second you hit that button, blackness wraps around Spidey and his combos, fighting style and attitude changes.
The distinct feature of this game is the ability to play hero or villain. You can choose certain paths throughout the storyline that make him good or evil. The good choice being influenced by Peter and the bad choice being influence by the symbiote in him.
In the beginning of the game, you begin slowly walking on top of a rooftop amidst chaos with "Moonlight Sonata" gently playing in the background.
As the city dives into depravity, the symbiote invasions begin to worsen. The buildings developed symbiotic webbing between them, the cars on the streets are turned over and buildings are ravaged as different types of symbiote hybrids tread the streets.
Outstanding negatives for this game are a handful of combat and swing-related bugs. You CAN freeroam anywhere you want at anytime and ditch the main quest, which isn't bad.
Oh, and again, Spidermans voice actor sucks ass.
