I just can't get over how awesome Twilight Princess is. The mythology is epic and the weapons are so awesome. You fight a fucking dragon on a skateboard!! And don't get me started on the double Claw Shots.

The Temple of Time is friggin' amazing as well. That mini boss was really awesome. And then there's the ball and chain, which kicks so much ass. The battle with Ganondorf is awesome as well, though the horseback riding part kind of sucks.

Again, though, I just can't stop talking about how awesome this game is!!

Great thread, Marushia. I agree. I have Twilight Princess for my Nintendo Wii and I haven't played all of that much of it. It is awesome so far though.

Also, my favorite is definitely Ocarina of Time. That was such an amazing game. I remember always renting it when I was younger. I might as well have boughten the damned thing.

I really think there's potential for a game where you play as Ganondorf, perhaps before he becomes king of evil.

I have to concur with Ocarina of Time as the best...brilliant game, one of the first I'd played back in the day on N64

Agreed. Ocarina of Time was a wonderful LOZ game and I still enjoy it more than the Twilight Princess, even.

I actually think that's quite a great idea. You can steal things with the Gerudo. Just kidding. :P

Then after, you get to pwn everything with corrupted Ganon.

I would play as that. Come on now.

I like Twilight Princess, and of course have played Ocarina of Time more times than I can count. Although I personally like Link to the Past as my favorite. It's really the classic game with the first decently thought out story (I think? I haven't played the original two too much so I can't say for sure), and a lot of things in later games are based on it (including OOT, TP). It's also kinda hard to beat, unlike the 3-D ones. Plus my favorite music themes in Zelda are from that game: the Dark World theme (which I was upset that Twilight Princess did not use with their Twilight world!!!), and the Hyrule Castle theme (which they did use in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess in, appropriately, hyrule).

Oh, and Majora's Mask and Wind Waker were also fun to play, if not quite as epic.

I like the idea of a Ganon origins game (taking place pre-Ocarina of Time most likely). In it we might get to see a few more missing links: how he became king of Gerudo (other than being the first male born in a century or however else that works...my guess is that one of the women slipped with her vows of thieving celibacy or something), how he attacked (and apparently negotiated with) the king of Hyrule, how he discovered black magic in his quest for power, how he sabotaged the palace; oh yeah and perhaps something about the origin of the Sheiks like Impa, and perhaps something about Link (in that game)'s parents.

So yeah, you'd have to:
take over the Gerudo and unite them into one tribe,
Make successful raids on Hyrule
Discover black magic and stuff to use on your enemies
Fake a negotiation with the king in order to sabotage the place
fight the Sheikah bodyguards
kill the Hyrule guard
mess up the other races like Gorans (I'd imagine it would be difficult to convince a fire dragon to join you) and Zoras (freezing an entire lake area!)
And perhaps fight link at some point, or create Shadow link and fight link as him.

Yep, sounds like plenty of fun.

Indeed. A Ganorigins game! I merged a word. I feel all ownagy inside. Majora's Mask blew chunks in my opinion. I really did not like that game at all.

To be honest, I never really got into Zelda. I spent most my early gamer years playing Crash and Spyro, than found Starcraft, than Halo and now I mostly just play RTS and FPS games.

*shrug*

I hate both Crash and Spiro.

My youth? Legendary games. Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Megaman, Street Fighter, Star Fox, Secret of Mana, Mortal Kombat, Kirby . . .

These were the days when games were REAL men!

. . .

I meant real games. Honestly.

Meh, I was still restricted to Jehovah's Witness approved games when I was younger and had no free will.

I didn't get to play Mortal Kombat until about six years ago, for example.

Ocarina of Time is possibly the greatest game ever created by a mortal. In fact, I mean to submit the theory that Miyamoto is not mortal at all.

Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time is one of the most sinister villains I've ever seen. He is just great. His cloak, his armor, his features. He is just so much better than any other Zelda Villain, including the twilight princes version of him.

Well, I don't think it would be the greatest game ever but it is my favorite for the LOZ series. It was a pretty damn fun game.

I only barely played the Zelda games for N64, and while they were good there was something truly epic about the original three. It was hard to continue on with the series after the serious overhauls. I liked the darker versions of Hyrule a la the second one, Adventure of Link, but then again I was heavily influenced by fantasy movies and novels of the eighties too.

You should take more time to play OOT. It's really a great N64 game and an even better Zelda game.

Really, it's worth a shot.

I know all about it. My grandmother was a member and only explained it to me a billion times.

Come to the Church of Sorgo. If you knew about what I do in my church, you would BOW to me, CHILDE!

What? is your bible horribly misspelled Sorgo?

I didn't misspell anything. If you're referring to "Childe", that's just ignorance on your behalf. It's from an uber vampire game.

I'm going to start a list of a few inconsistencies with the story and gameplay in Zelda: Ocarina of time. I've found many weird things, maybe you have too. Throw em out there.

- Link was abandoned in the Forest by his dying mother. Any non-Kokori who stays in the forest too long becomes a Stalfo. However, it could then be assumed that since the Deku Tree took Link in that he is able to protect people from that fate. Given the number of Stalfo's that you run into, I'm thinking the Deku Tree is a sadistic bastard to let all those people die like that.
-Evil is really dumb. Gannondorf has no idea how to orgainize. Assumeing Gannondorf had control over all of the bosses and all the evil forces in the Realm, couldn't he just send them all at once to destroy Link?
-After pulling the master sword, Gannondorf remarks that he knew that you had the keys to the sacred realm. If so, why didn't he just kill Link right there in Hyrule Field and steal that shit?
-Why couldn't the song of storms kill Volgaga instantly?
-Why couldn't the sun's song kill Bongo-Bongo?
-If Gannondorf cursed the Deku Tree, why did Link have to battle a paracite? Don't curses imply magical and therfore intangeble properties?
-Sara had no special abilities before she became a sage. How did she develope a way to comunicate over long distances through a song?
-Sara didn't have a sword. How the hell did she get to the forest grove outside the forest temple?
-For temples developed to house the power of the sages, the 7 sage temples discludeing the temple of light were extremely sinister in construction.
-The bones told Link that graverobers trying to enter the Royal Tomb would be obstructed. Why then was it so easy to break open their grave?
-Why didn't the Gerudo's put two and two together and take away Link's hookshot to prevent him from escaping their jail cell?
-Why is it that a fall from a building and a fall from the top of an active volcano both merit the loss of only one heart.
-What kind of child want's to grow up to be the grave keeper?
-What kind of grave keeper digs up graves in his own cemetery for an American equivalent of 12 cents?
-Where are the handholds on the large stone blocks that allow Link to pull them?
-Moving the sun and summoning rain is as easy as playing a song. Moving gigantic blocks or picking flowers requires trendy arm accessories.
-Link made friends with the skull-kids in Ocarina of time, why did one try to steal from him in Majora's mask?
-Running never tires Link out. Why?
-When Epona makes split second stops why doesn't Link go flying?
-What motivation does a giant owl have to help a small child with a fairy?
-Why is it that the scarecrow had an Afro-American accent?
-If Bongo-Bongo was such a sinister and evil entity, why did it fail to destroy a small village?
-The Gorons must be pretty dumb. They couldn't figure out that a bomb could destroy the rock that blocked Dongo Cavern.
-Flying plants are common for some reason
-Certain bats willingly light themselves on fire
-For some reason, the weapon that was needed to defeat the boss was obtained within the dungeon. Wouldn't you try to remove anything that could stop you if it was within your reach?

Anyone could do that with any game and any story. You're thinking a bit too critically about a game.
