View Full Version : Trio Match
Janus

Alright, let's have a three way match. No ladders or tables. Deadline is next Tuesday. Dimensions are the norm (600 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall max). No animations this round, sadly.
The theme is Opposites. Specifically, some sort of yin-yang symbolism, be it dark versus light, evil versus good, red versus blue, etc.
And make it nice!
Three contestants means only one walks away a winner.
The judge is.... FAUNUS

Wurd. Do I need to set a time thingy, or is it a week by default?

I'm in; I'll take you on.
Sounds like quite the challenge. I'm in if you still need a third. :D

Then you guys are set. It's Janus vs. Dawson vs. Nyx.

Good stuff. Week by default, but extensions are always an option. Life happens.

Might I have an extension? The family's decided, at the last minute, that we're traveling for the long weekend. I'll be back on Tuesday, and I believe I'll be able to get my entry in that night.

That's fine. It's what Janus had as the original deadline, anway.

..and no, this isn't a second image. It's actually the very the same, but turned 180 degrees. Just wanted the full effect to be noted without having to stand on your head. :D

Finally done. I was actually quite pressed to find any sort of opposites symbolism I liked portraying. Really, I would have been better to just submit my current sig, save for it's not qualified for the contest.... Meh.
This sig here represents justice and fairness, when seen from the opposite side of view.

Judge Faunus apologizes for his tardiness.
I know if I post my decision now it's gonna suck, so do you think I could delay this one more day, when I can put in a good deal of thought?
Btw, awesome job, all of you.

Sure thing. Another day won't hurt things.

How 'bout four? :p
The winner of this duel is: Nyx!
All of you had great entries, but I personally thought that Nyx's most accurately depicted the nature of duality and opposition. (Thanks for flipping the image, btw)
Dawson, your sig was very subtle - perhaps too much so. I can see where you may have been going, but the similar orientations of the horses and the fact that the only difference between them was color dampened the effect, and made it rather hard to distinguish a major difference. Perhaps if you'd shown the two in different environments, or as completely different creatures. You might have had a unicorn or pegasus vs. a thestral (Harry Potter) or something more draconic if you wanted to stick with horses. Anything that showed real opposition, covering each end of the spectrum instead of just one with minor variations.
And Janus, when I saw your entry I had no idea what is was for about four seconds. Then I saw the baby on the platter, and I thought "WTF?!" A few moments later, I made out the turkeys, and it all clicked. Your sig was definitely the most inventive - not to mention completely unexpected - and I think it'd work marvelously in a duel covering a reversal of roles, or something akin to it. The "opposition" is clear, but it would have worked better if you'd compared two scenarios (this and the original) as Nyx did, to maximize the effect.
Sorry for the delay, and the surprisingly short summary. But there really isn't too much else to say. You all had great entries, so keep up the good work and keep on duelling.
Yey! :D
Ph33r t3h ambigrams. Or something like that..
